Can I mix brush and furniture in one curbside pile?+
The City publishes separate brush and bulky rules and warns that mixed or obstructed piles can lead to non-collection, fees or enforcement. Separate first and verify the scheduled service.
How big is eight cubic yards?+
It is volume, not weight: 216 cubic feet. The estimator gives a rough rectangular-box calculation; use the City’s current visual/rules and ask how the collection or facility measures an irregular pile.
Can I take construction debris to a City bulky center?+
Current City guidance publishes a one-cubic-yard construction-material limit at bulky centers, with other eligibility and material restrictions. Curbside brush/bulky rules list construction and roofing material as unaccepted.
Can I use a vacant lot for temporary staging?+
Do not assume. City guidance says not to place brush/bulky material on vacant lots, and dumping waste outside permitted facilities can be illegal. Use property-specific official guidance.
What if someone else dumped it on my property?+
Photograph conditions and identifying evidence without confrontation or unsafe contact. Report within San Antonio through 311; outside city limits, the City’s official page directs reports to Bexar County at 210-335-6700.
Should I remove debris before the inspector sees it?+
Correct immediate hazards safely, but preserve the original notice, dates, wide/detail photos and receipts. Ask the named agency how to report correction and whether reinspection or case closure must be requested.
Can a hauler put everything into one load?+
Only if the destination lawfully accepts it and transport rules are met. Require a material-specific scope and destination; separate hazardous, unknown and otherwise incompatible waste.
What disposal proof should I keep?+
Before/after photos, written scope, load count/volume, destination, weight ticket or facility receipt, invoice, payment proof, and any inspector communication or closure confirmation.
What if the pile includes paint, fuel or chemicals?+
Stop ordinary cleanup. Keep people away, do not mix or pour contents, and use the correct household hazardous-waste or professional route. Immediate leaks, fumes, fire or exposure require emergency help.
Does a clean yard automatically close a code case?+
No. A visually corrected condition and official case closure are different. Follow the notice’s instructions, retain proof, request/confirm reinspection when applicable, and verify the official status.
